Presentations during the meetings<\/a> of DGBeheer<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

On woensdag 19 november<\/strong> the last meeting of DGB took place in 2025 at GC De Dommel.<\/p>\n

Here you find the agenda<\/a> of this day.<\/p>\n

After the welcome and opening of the day, the first presentation was given by Marcel Straatman (Heicom). He gave a presentation on \"top layers and sand for sport and golf\"<\/a><\/p>\n

After the excellent lunch, Arthur Wolleswinkel held a survey.<\/p>\n

Then it was Andy Owen's (ICL) turn. He gave a presentation via teams about: A few years of microdochium (fusarium patch) trial work.<\/a><\/p>\n

Adriaan van Dorth (GC 't Zelle) gave a presentation on: Removing golf balls from nature.<\/p>\n

Because it was fairly dry at the time, we started the lap through the track under the guidance of Koert. When the rain came not much later, he gave his presentation about GC de Dommel.<\/p>\n

The day ended with drinks and a delicious dinner.<\/p>\n

On 3 juli 2025<\/strong> the second meeting of this year took place at the Heelsum GC.<\/p>\n

The program was opened with an explanation of the state of affairs regarding the dollar spot investigation. It has been decided to continue after 3 years of research. The contours of the sequel have not yet been completely determined.<\/p>\n

Alexander de Vries gives an explanation from the NGF and also shows how it is Sustainability Manifesto Golf Courses<\/a> is going to look like. This is currently still under development.<\/p>\n

Andrew Knott then showed how you can use AI to ask questions for difficult issues, in this case it shows a dollarspot model van Smith Kerns<\/a> and asks AI for an explanation.<\/p>\n

After lunch, Paul Derikx (Meertens) gave a presentation about Humine, Fulvine<\/a> and Seaweeds<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Flip Wirth concluded the meeting with an update on the study trip that will be held in the Netherlands this year. There is again a large group of visiting Danes, Germans and Swedes. A number of DBGB members have already registered, but our representation could of course be a bit larger. In addition to the track visits, there are also presentation evenings on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Flip will send an email about this.<\/p>\n

The meeting ends with a short tour of the course by Jeroen and a drink in the clubhouse.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday 19th February 2025<\/strong> we opened the new season at Barenbrug Wolfheze. There were 31 participants that day so the room was well filled.<\/p>\n

Presentation by Juan Castillo on dollar spot research at Barenbrug 2025<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Juan shows that the research consists of 3 sub-projects:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Screening van cultivars<\/li>\n
  2. Research into the influence of endophytes<\/li>\n
  3. Seed coating for better overseeding results after disease infestation<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Re a. During the selection process, it became clear that there are no resistant plants, but only disease-tolerant ones.<\/p>\n

    What is an additional complication is that dollar spot occurs in 3 different species of Clarireedia spp. We look for plants that have a high disease tolerance for all 3 species. A protocol has been drawn up for conducting trials and tests. New active disease samples are still welcome!<\/p>\n

    Ad b. Endophytes live in the plant and in symbiosis with the plant and can secrete alkaloids. These may be able to protect the plant from abiotic and biotic stress. Different types of endophytes are distinguished. Endophytes can also be toxic to animals that eat grass.<\/p>\n

    Re c. It is being investigated whether special seed coatings can have added value in grass that is already affected by disease. It is often difficult to get new perennial grass plants by overseeding in disease-affected areas, while they are most needed there. Perhaps a coating can help the young plants.<\/p>\n

    Support data collection and dollar spot measurements<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

    At the moment, a lot of work is being done on the analysis of a large amount of data that has been collected in the past 3 years. On 16 May, a first presentation will take place in the White Mountains, which will result in a set of best management practices.<\/p>\n

    The first impression is that there are a few effects that can help suppress dollar spot:<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. rolling<\/li>\n
    2. Irrigation several times at night (small amounts)<\/li>\n
    3. ensuring proper nutritional status<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Various effects have an influence but still need to be further investigated for effectiveness:<\/p>\n

        \n
      1. impoverishment<\/li>\n
      2. desiccation<\/li>\n
      3. felt<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Vastgesteld is dat er grote verschillen zijn die het onderzoek complex maken. En bovenal: er is geen one-solution-fits-all, maar dat er zullen baanspecifieke bmp strategie\u00ebn gevoerd moeten worden. En last but not least: timing !!! ( proactief beheer )<\/p>\n

        The trio Casper, Arthur and Gerard aims to continue jobs together with DGB. The collection of the data can be carried out in parallel with data for own management. However, a fee will have to be paid for this. And a quick inventory shows that there is interest from a large number of those present. Casper promises to come up with a concrete proposal in the short term.<\/p>\n

        FERTILIZER METHODS FOR A GOLF PUTTING GREEN<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

        The main goal is to grow leaves for strong plants.<\/p>\n

        Consideration of granular\/liquid<\/p>\n

        Bodemanalyse is de basis. Besluiten wat te doen op basis van MLSN of laboratorium advies.<\/p>\n

        With spoon feeding, watering is essential in connection with the plant's absorption of nutrients.<\/p>\n

        After lunch, grass photos are counted and a workshop takes place for the course managers\/track marshals who have traveled along.<\/p>\n

        At 1600 the day ended with thanks to our two hosts Olaf and Martin.<\/p>\n

        On Wednesday, November 27, 2024, we held the DGB final meeting of 2024 at GV Leeuwenbergh<\/strong> where Andrew Knott was our host. There were 30 people present. Flip Wirth presents the day program including the schedule of the study trip 2025. Furthermore, a short introduction about grass clippings and weeds in fairways. Here the program of the day<\/a>.<\/p>\n

        Then Jannes Landkroon updated us on what is happening in greenkeeping land<\/a> and Alexander de Vries (representing the NGF) gave a short presentation <\/a>about recent developments.<\/p>\n

        After that Andrew explained about Leeuwenbergh and he demonstrated his findings<\/a> in the area of robot mowing machines.<\/p>\n

        After lunch followed a walk on the course in the vicinity of the clubhouse, the greenkeeper's shed and the driving range where we were shown the trackman system.<\/p>\n

        Finally, Roy Keunen of Nova Crop provided a presentation<\/a> about leaf-liquid analysis.<\/p>\n

        The day was succesfully concluded with driks and a dinner.<\/p>\n

        On Wednesday, February 28, 2024, the opening meeting of DGB season 2024 took place in Wolfheze.<\/p>\n

        Olaf Bos gave an introduction<\/a> on grasses and developments<\/p>\n

        Andrew Knott showed how to make a problem analysis<\/a> can be made based on data.<\/p>\n

        Jannes Landkroon addressed the different aspects of personnel at the golf course<\/a> and how to deal with that.<\/p>\n

        On Wednesday, December 13, 2023, the closing meeting took place at G&CC Lauswolt. Here is the day program<\/a><\/p>\n

        On Wednesday, December 7, 2022, the final meeting of DGB took place at GC Amelisweerd. Gerard van 't Klooster provided a presentation on meteo systems<\/a> with the invitation to join the first group of 6 golf clubs that started in 2021.<\/p>\n

        After this Marco Blom gave a presentation on data driven golf course maintenance<\/a>\u00a0showing us how he uses the data he collects.<\/p>\n

        To end Arthur Wolleswinkel gave a presentation on the dollar spot trials<\/a> in which he provided an update on the ongoing research on dollar spot, causes, and best management practices.<\/p>\n

        On Wednesday 9 June 2021, the second DGB webinar was presented from the Barenbrug studios in Nijmegen. de agenda and all activities of this year were explained by Flip Wirth in accompanying presentation<\/a>. Gerard van \u2019t Klooster has made presentation<\/a> gegeven over het belang van het beschikken over een eigen weerstation met aangehangen sensoren en bijkomende voorspellingmodellen. Hij onderstreepte het belang als alle DGB leden kiezen voor dezelfde apparatuur omdat dat de beste mogelijkheid biedt om data te vergelijken.<\/p>\n

        During the Webinar on Wednesday 24th February at Barenbrug, Nijmegen, we made the kick-off for the new season 2021. Due to Covid-19 we could not meet in the traditional way unfortunately, but this was next best to continue our tradition. The agenda and discussing of various topics by Flip Wirth you will read in the accompanying presentation<\/a>. Casper Paulussen sprak over de eerste bevindingen van het dollarspot onderzoek<\/a> started in 2020 and to be continued in 2021. Olaf Bos reported about the digital enquiries<\/a> he conducted last year during the meeting at Barenbrug Wolfheze amongst the DGB members taking part.<\/p>\n

        During the meeting of 5 February 2020 at Barenbrug Wolfheze, presentations were given about grass clippings. Flip Wirth gave an introduction and Wim Pelkmans gave a presention, showing how grass clippings can help in giving guidance to maintenance.
